If I should drop a stone into an inky lake,
Do you think it would reach you, drop down right through the earth?
Do you think it would find you, across the other side,
If I should drop a stone into an inky lake?
If you should make a kite with endless length of string,
Do you think I would see it soaring high above my head?
Do you think I could catch it, shoot an arrow in its side,
If you should make a kite with endless length of string?
If I should write a letter, addressèd to your name,
Do you think I could tell you, the love that’s in my soul?
Do you think love would reach you, though we’re a world apart,
If I should write a letter, addressèd to you name?
I hope you enjoyed this poem! It was my attempt at the AXXA rhyming scheme. In AXXA, line one and four rhyme, but lines two and three rhyme with neither each other or lines one and four. Lines one and four do not have to be the same line –that was just an idea of my own.
